Our intention to achieve best results is:
- 1. Make a Disease Recognition Chart, detailing pictures and facts about diseases to keep in the beekeepers basket, with instructions to get in touch with your local association/bee inspector.
- Hold an Apiary Meeting to “SHOW” beekeepers the correct way to perform tasks, paying particular attention to hygiene (encourage disposable gloves & Wellington boots) have soda bath available for two sets of tools etc.
- BIO Security – Provide advice for every beekeeper for incorporating processes into week by week operations.
- Be aware of pests that exist and threats to look out for.
- Use pest free stock and equipment, with methods of sanitisation.
- Record keeping, Monitoring, record & photograph.
- Know the Law and how to detect and report notifiable diseases.
- Our programme –
- Hold local indoor meetings to promote all training available within the area, both practical and theoretical.
- Promote via our website and social media channels and at all venues.
- Review available disease, Varroa treatments, and the correct methods of application.
- Obtain brochures from the national bee unit to hand out, obtain posters to educate at local events.
- We are all in this together – Introduce the National Bee Unit and promote the positive uses it has for the community.
